After years of sessions, I’ve noticed something. The people going through the deepest awakenings rarely believe that’s what’s happening to them. They come in convinced something has gone wrong with their life, or with them. They think they’re falling apart. Most of the time, they’re just finally waking up.
What a Spiritual Awakening Really Is
An awakening doesn’t always look like a lightning bolt. Sometimes it’s a single moment that changes everything overnight. More often, it’s quieter than that.
Somewhere back in childhood, you picked up a program, a set of rules for how to stay safe and loved. Be agreeable. Stay small. Keep everyone else comfortable. That program ran in the background for years, shaping choices you thought were fully your own.
An awakening is the moment you catch the program running. You see it. Clearly, for the first time. And once you see it, you cannot unsee it.
The mind is a program. You are not.
What This Might Feel Like for You
Awakenings rarely announce themselves. They creep in sideways.
“I don’t recognize my own life anymore.” “I used to care about this and now I don’t know why.” “Small things set me off that never used to.” “I keep grieving something I can’t name.” These aren’t complaints. They’re signals. And most people miss them because they’re listening for something dramatic instead.
Here’s what it often looks like underneath those words:
- Restlessness in a life that looks fine from the outside
- Pulling away from people or routines that used to feel like home
- Realizing some of what you believe about work, love, or success was never really yours to begin with
- Losing patience with things that used to feel manageable
- Feeling tired in a way sleep doesn’t fix
- Grieving a version of yourself you’re starting to outgrow
- Wanting less. Fewer commitments. Fewer things. More room to breathe
One of these alone might mean nothing. All of them together, building over weeks or months? That’s your subconscious mind waking up. You’re not imagining it. You’re not too sensitive. Something in you is finally telling the truth.
Why It Can Feel So Lonely
Nobody warns you about the middle part.
A client of mine once stopped answering texts from the friends who used to feel like family. Not because anything had happened between them. She just could not find the energy to explain why the version of her they knew, the one who always said yes, who kept the peace, who showed up smiling even on the hard days, no longer felt true. She sat with that silence for weeks, half wondering if something was wrong with her. Nothing was wrong. She was simply outgrowing a version of herself faster than the people around her could keep up.
That’s the hardest stretch of the whole process. It’s also where the real shift happens.
How Do You Know It’s Not Something Else?
People ask me this, and it deserves a real answer.
Here’s what I’ve noticed. Awakening usually leaves your daily life intact, you’re still eating, sleeping, showing up for work, even on the hard days, even while something underneath is clearly shifting. A crisis tends to affect those basics directly. Meals get skipped. Sleep falls apart. Getting through an ordinary day starts to feel impossible.

What Actually Helps
You don’t need to force your way through this.
Name it. Notice where you feel it in your body, the tightness in your chest, the pit in your stomach, the restlessness in your legs. Something is happening. Once you let yourself know that much, the fear of not understanding it starts to loosen. Stop trying to fix it. This isn’t a problem waiting for a solution. It’s a process asking to be felt. Find someone who’s walked this ground before. Thinking your way through a subconscious pattern rarely works, because the pattern doesn’t live in your thinking mind. It lives underneath it. Let go of the clock. This unfolds in its own time, not yours.
You Don’t Have to Do This Alone
That discomfort you’re feeling isn’t proof something is wrong with you. It’s proof something is finally moving.
This is the work I do. I sit with people in exactly this kind of in-between, and I help them find solid ground again, not by pulling them out of what they’re feeling, but by guiding them through it until they can stand in it without being shaken by it. What somebody is carrying is an old program still running a story that already ended, replaying underneath conscious thought long after the moment itself is gone. Left unaddressed, that loop does not always stay beneath the surface. It can settle into the body as tension, fatigue, or other physical strain. My work is helping you see that the story is finished, even though part of you is still carrying it like it isn’t.
