It’s a question worth asking honestly. If you can’t be in the room with me, does the work still land the same way, or is something lost the moment there’s a screen between us? I hear this from people considering a session for the first time, and from people who have already worked with me in person and are wondering if Zoom would be enough.
The honest answer is yes, it is enough. The format changes. The depth does not.
Why This Question Comes Up So Often
It makes sense to wonder. So much healing work is built around touch, presence, being physically held in a space. It is reasonable to assume that taking the body out of the room changes what is possible.
But the part of you that actually needs to be reached is not sitting in the room with me either way. It is your subconscious mind, and that does not require your physical body to be within arm’s reach of mine.
Naming the Doubt
Let’s be honest about what’s underneath the question. Healing sounds like it needs a room, a table, a hand on your shoulder. A screen can feel too thin for something this real.
Part of that doubt comes from how most of us learned to think about connection itself. We are taught that presence means proximity, that being truly seen requires being in the same physical space. So it makes sense that the idea of deep work happening through a screen feels almost contradictory.
But presence was never really about distance. Think about the last time someone said something to you over the phone that hit harder than words spoken in person ever had. Or a moment you felt someone’s absence more sharply in a crowded room than you did alone. Connection has never followed the rules of physical space the way we assume it does.
I understand the doubt. I would probably feel it too if I hadn’t watched this work happen the same way, session after session, regardless of format. The doubt is not a sign you’re wrong to wonder. It is a sign that this work is unusual enough not to fit the pattern of what healing is normally expected to look like.
This Is Not New
This is not a modern shortcut. Healing traditions across cultures have worked this way for centuries, sending intention and prayer toward someone who was never in the room, so a screen is simply today’s version of something far older.
What an In-Person Session Looks Like
In person, you are on a massage table, and I work with my hands, scanning and reading your body as we go. There is a physical language your body speaks, and I am trained to listen to it directly, tension, heat, a place that resists my hand, a place that softens the moment I reach it.
This is intuitive work. I am not following a script. I am following what your body shows me, moment to moment, until we find where the pattern actually lives.
What a Zoom Session Looks Like
On Zoom, you are settled somewhere comfortable, wherever feels safe and quiet to you. I am not reading your body with my hands, but I am still reading you. Your breath changes. Your voice slows or catches. A pause lands differently than the pause before it. Sometimes I go quiet for a stretch, simply staying with what I am sensing, before I speak again. My nursing background trained me to notice a nervous system shifting states long before someone says a word about it, and that skill does not turn off because there is a screen between us.
The same intuitive process happens, just without physical touch guiding the way.
A Session That Made This Clear to Me
A client of mine did her first session in person, on the table, hands-on, the whole experience. Months later, traveling and unable to come in, she booked a Zoom session instead, half expecting it to feel like a lesser version. Partway through, her breathing changed the same way it had on the table months earlier. She started crying the same way. Afterward she told me it felt identical, just without my hands. That surprised her more than it surprised me. I already knew the work does not live in the touch. The touch is only one way in.
Why the Effectiveness Is Equal
Here is the piece people rarely expect to hear: this work has never actually depended on physical proximity. The pattern being released does not live in the space between us. It lives in you, and I am trained to reach it, whether that is through my hands or through the same intuitive attention held across a screen.
A few things that stay exactly the same either way:
- The process is intuitive, not scripted, in both formats
- What you feel during the session, whether that is quiet, heat, emotion, or release, is equally likely either way
- The depth we are able to reach is not limited by distance
- Your part in the work, willingness and honesty, matters more than the format
What a Session Involves
A session is an hour and a half. Some people come for one session and feel complete with what they came to work on. Others return over time to work through a new layer as it surfaces. Neither path is better than the other, and neither is required. This work is meant to build your own capacity to go inward and find what needs to be released, not a reliance on me to do it for you. I guide the way there. You are the one who does the work.
How to Prepare, Either Way
A little preparation helps you settle in faster, whatever format you choose.
For an in-person session, wear something comfortable you can lie down in, and give yourself a few quiet minutes before you arrive instead of rushing in straight from your day.
For a Zoom session, find a quiet room, use headphones if you can, and have something to write with nearby. Many people want to jot something down in the minutes right after.
Choosing What’s Right for You
Zoom is the easiest way for most people to start. There is no travel to plan around, no calendar gap to find, no distance keeping you from beginning. You show up from wherever you already are, and the work meets you there.
In-person remains available if you live nearby or travel to the area, and want that experience specifically. It is not required to get the full depth of this work. It is simply another way in, for those who choose it.
Either way, you are not settling for a lesser version of this work. You are choosing the format that lets you actually show up for it.
The Work Meets You Where You Are
If distance has been the reason you have put this off, it does not need to be anymore. The work reaches you wherever you are willing to be reached.
